Yes today we will explore the Haunted History of a group of Warriors.
This is going to be my second Haunted post about BRAVE WARRIORS.

Yes thats the grave of Asano Naganori the lord of 47 Ronin’s - Iam standing right in front of it, this photo was shot in May 2013.
The Picture itself looks scary.
The name of the street where the Graves of Ronin's are found is called YUREI ZAKA,
YUREI means GHOST.
ZAKA means STREET.

The BLOOD TREE that survived the great Kanto earthquake, fire and then the world war 2.
You know why this TREE exist till date?
The 47 SOUL's of the Ronin's reside on this tree even today (as per Japanese belief).
However later many of the crimes for which Pillamar were punished were disproved and most of the stories about Pillamar was found to be FALSE.
Nobody knows if PILLAMAR were TRAITORS or LOYALIST. It remains a question mark even today.
Post 1730 Marthanda Varma continued to give the TITLE called PILLAI to the Ruling Chief's of Travancore who were mainly NAIR'S AND MENON'S.
My mother and father has heard from their parents that we are Nair by caste, hence we follow the customs of Nair.
But the ‘8 Pillamar’ were not to quit down easily. It was believed, even after their death, the ghosts of the ‘Pillamar’ gave sleepless nights to the royal family members of erstwhile Travancore.
The Royal family started feeling uncomfortable.
A temple was constructed for the souls of 8 PILLAMAR.

During my haunted trip in Tokyo in 2013 May - My tour guide left me right in front of the BLOOD TREE in FEAR and said good bye to me and I was
left alone right in front of the Blood tree and for once I thought iam going to
die, but i decided that - "If I face my last moments then I will die bravely like a Ronin"

Iam a PILLAI myself, both my Father's Father and Mother's Father got the TITLE from their parents.

Travancore was called as Venad until 1730.
Marthanda Varma was the last king of Venad and the first king of Travancore.
Prior to 1730 the entire Kerala (along with Kanyakumari which was a part of Kerala then) was divided into 8 areas and each area was governed by 8 Noble Nairs.
These Nairs got the Title Pillai (Means Prince / Princess) because of their excellence in Martial Arts, Military, Administrative and Governance skills. They were very LOYAL to the KING.
PILLAI means PRINCE - A TITLE OF NOBILITY that was given to my family by the Royal family of Travancore.

Ettara Yogam was the Administrative Set up of Padmanabhaswamy
temple which was controlled by the Pillamar.
The 8 Pillai (Plural - Pillamar) had 42 other Ruling Chief's (Pillamar) under them. Very soon the Ruling Chiefs - Pillamar became more powerful than the Travancore(Venad) Royal Family.

The Royal Family started seeing Pillamar as a THREAT.
It was believed or
assumed that the Pillamar assassinated Maharajah Aditya Varma by poisoning him. Marthanda Varma then decided to kill and defeat his own Ruling
Chief's - The Pillamar in 1730.
All 8 Pillamar and
42 other Ruling Chiefs were hanged and killed.
With this Marthanda Varma took control of Padmanabhaswamy temple and the name of the Kingdom was changed from Venad to Travancore.
Marthanda Varma subdued the POWER of Pillamar.

Haunted by the past the Royal family consulted scholars and sought the assistance of the
members of Changanacherry Kumaramangalas Mana to exorcise the 8 spirits. "According to popular tradition, the patriarchs of the Mana, with their tantric
powers, managed to control the spirits. The 8 spirits, confined in 8 ‘kumbhams (POTS),’ were taken to Changanacherry and were installed at
the Vettadikavu temple owned by the Mana".
A temple was constructed for the souls of 8 PILLAMAR.
The eight niches, believed to be the resting place of the spirits, can still be seen in the temple even today.

There was a belief that, if the King of Travancore ever set foot
on the soil of Changanacherry, the spirits of the 'Pillamar' would break free
from their bondage and return to Thiruvananthapuram!
Since 1730 until today - Nobody from Royal family dared to set foot in and around the temple.
This is the Paranormal story of the PILLAI's.
Even today - The Pillai's have a great spiritual influence on Sree Padmanabahaswamy Temple.

Since the installation of the spirits of Pillamar at Changanacherry, Vettady Temple, Sri Chithira Thirunal Maharaja of Travancore (1931-1949) for the first time visited Changanacherry in connection with the formal opening celebrations of the NSS College in Changanacherry, he lost his power and the Kingdom immediately.
The House of Travancore was dissolved in 1949.
