“Everyone Has a Price? The Truth About Dignity”

Righteousness is the unquestionable foundation of peace—on this there can be no debate. Yet, what has truly grown fragile in our world is not righteousness itself, but human dignity.

What is Dignity ?
The ability to act according to one's Conscience.
Dignity reflects the idea that every human life has moral worth
Morality is about what is right or wrong according to your Conscience.

Article 21 of the constitution of India : No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty to act according to his conscience  except according to procedure established by law.
The Supreme Court has interpreted the word life to mean more than mere animal existence—it includes the right to live with human dignity.

The Magic Christian captures the fragility  of Dignity.
At its core lies the unsettling premise: everyone has a price.
I have not seen the movie but now iam tempted to see the movie.

The film forces us to confront an uncomfortable truth—how quickly dignity can be abandoned when temptation takes the shape of money, privilege, or desire.

“In the film’s climax, Guy fills a massive vat with urine, blood, and animal excrement, then scatters thousands of banknotes into the mixture. Announcing ‘Free money!’ he draws a large crowd of workers, who eagerly plunge in to recover the cash. The scene reaches its unsettling peak as many immerse themselves completely to retrieve the submerged notes, all while the song ‘Something in the Air’ by Thunderclap Newman plays in the background.”

It is never just about buying loyalty or services. It is about buying dignity itself.
Not simply a transaction, but a reduction of the human spirit to a price tag.

And in that unsettling laughter the film provokes, we find the sharpest reminder of all: dignity is fragile.

In March 2018, I turned down a job offer for two deeply personal reasons. First, I have never been passionate about coding—and no matter the salary, even if it were a crore, I would not compromise on authenticity. Second, I could not accept a role where i was asked to sleep beside my reporting manager.

When dignity is violated—through humiliation, dehumanization, or exclusion—it is not just a matter of social critique, but a legal and ethical claim. Yet in my case, dignity was trampled for acting out of my Conscience. False rumours were spread about my skills and talent, and they even claimed that I fear coding.

Between November 2019 and February 2022, I was treated in ways I did not deserve. What was my fault? Why was I cast aside? Is my right to dignity any less than anyone else’s?

What is fragile is not Righteousness. What is fragile is Dignity.
For it is in our Conscience that God truly lives
