Shruthivibhushanam Sadhujeevanam !

Today we will explore Madhyamavathi Ragam.
Madhyamavathi Ragam and Sree Ragam are called as "Mangalam Ragam".
Mangalam means Blessing.

Every concert ends with a Mangalam set to either Madhyamavathi Ragam or Sree Ragam.
We have already explored Sree Ragam in my earlier posts.
Today we will explore Madhyamavathi Ragam.

Layam in Natya Veda means TEMPO = RHYTHM.
Layam = Heart Rate = Speed of Heart Beat.
Layam represents the SPEED OF THE SONG AND DANCE.

The three types of Layam / Rhythm ;
Vilambitha = Slow Tempo
Madhyama = Medium Tempo
Dhruta = Fast Tempo

Beats / Minute : BPM

Layam has the capacity to ALTER BREATHING AND HEART RATE.
The Breathing and Heart rate of dancer and audience is altered based on the various kinds of emotions presented on the stage.
A Mangala Ragam is set to Madhyama Layam ; The purpose of which is to set the heart rate to NORMAL TEMPO. Mangala Ragam is performed at the end of concert.

Music is Divine in South India.
The divine Sanskrit Song " Harivarasanam" is sung every night when the Sanctum Sanctorum of Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple close for the day at Night.

The song is composed of 108 words and 352 letters and set to Madhyamavathi Ragam.
Madhyamavathi means Normal Rhythm = Mangalam = Equivalent to Blessing.

The blessing you receive is " Shruthivibhushanam Sadhujeevanam"  which is the last line of the song that is set to Madhyamavathi Ragam.

The emotions of Ayyappa devotees are BEYOND EXPLANATION.
The chief priest and other priest stand on both sides of the idol of Lord Ayyappa and sing this Sanskrit Song every night before closing the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Halfway through the song ; chief priest will put off the smaller lamps inside the Sanctum Sanctorum/Sree Kovil.
As the song ends ; one by one all other priest other than chief priest will exit the Sanctum Sanctorum.
When the final line is sung ; the chief priest closes the door of Sanctum Sanctorum and locks it.

The last line of Song =
Shruthivibhushanam Sadhujeevanam =  You are blessed with Normal Shruthi ; The Life of Aesthetics.
Shruthimanoharam Geethalalasam = This Shruthi (Rhythm) is the essence of the VEDAS.

Perfect co-ordination ; exactly when the chief priest starts singing Harivarasanam ;
The same song "Harivarasanam" sung by K.J.Yesudas is played on speakers for the sake of all the devotees across the Sabarimala Hill.
The song indicates the closing of Sanctum Sanctorum.

Before the last line (" Shruthivibhushanam Sadhujeevanam") is complete devotees are SEEN RUSHING TO SANCTUM to get a glimpse of Lord Ayyappa.

I dont know if what i experienced in the last 2 years of my life was SPIRITUAL AWAKENING or NOT?.
Let me run close to the DOORS OF SANCTUM before it closes to receive the blessings of "Sadhujeevanam".

A few steps for Harivarasanam - My own choreography.
MADHYAMAVATHI RAGAM WITH NORMAL TEMPO : LIFE IS ALMOST NEAR TO BACK TO NORMAL RHYTHM.
