LAYAM - The pulsating movement between 2 HEART BEATS!

We have explored that Ragam is a musical note and all musical notes are derived from Sama Veda.
In short Ragam is a - Melody that lends an aesthetic mood in a selective combination of swaras.
Ex. Kalyani Ragam:
Sa ni da pa da ma ga ri ni ri
Sa ni ri ga ma da ma pa da ni

The Ragam is a melodic scheme, it is believed that if you sing any Ragam mentioned in Sama Veda in shudda swara, you can use singing as a therapy to cleanse your Energy specially sound energy which can help you cure Asthma.
In order to discover shudda swara , you have to practice singing in cold water in the SEA early morning.
As seen above Ragam is a “living” form , the notes – swaras are arranged in ascending or descending order. According to Sama Veda - Ragam constitutes of inner pulse having movements and coordination explaining the features of life.

We have heard of manifesting dream, intuition, feeling, goals, vision etc.
Today we will explore Manifesting Movement - A strange  topic isn’t?
Today we will explore Layam.
Layam is the manifestation of movement.
Movement does not occur in stillness. For any movement to become meaningful, it has to move forward either slowly or fast.
Layam means keep moving.

Layam is  the medium by which a performer moves from one swara to another swara, and through the swaras in the octave.
Layam represents the Pulse , meaning Heart Rate.
Heart Rate of Ragam = Pulse = Layam = Interval between 2 heart beats.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_rate
Layam is Tempo or Speed.
The time gap between 2 Heart Beats.

There are certain Ragam that can help you control and manage BPM.
Beats of Heart per minute.

Athivilamba kala (45-60bpm)
Vilamba kala (60 -70 bpm)
Madyama Kala (70-80 bpm)
Druta Kala (80 – 90bpm)
Athidruta kala (90 – 110 bpm)

Layam or the perception of time is a very fundamental factor in music. The flow of time is calibrated. If the unit of calibration is small, one feels the passage of time as quick or fast which is the Druta Layam (80-90 bpm)  If the unit of calibration is large, one feels the passage of time as slow which is Vilamba Layam (60-70 bpm) If the unit of calibration is neither small nor large, the passage of time is felt as medium and is the Madhya Layam(70-80bpm)

The palpable rhythm for any living being is the beating of the heart. The normal rate of heart beat is between 70 and 80 beats which is a broad spectrum of movement in rhythm - corresponding to madhyama kala in Karnatic music

If Layam is Pulse , Ragam can be measured by Talam.
Talam = Talam is Time cycle = Heart Beat itself.
Heart Rate can be measured by listening to the Heart Beats.
Talam forms the life cycle = Cycle of HEART BEATS.

The Layam has to match the Sentiment and Emotions of the dancer on stage.

You learn to control Layam (movement of heart beats) / BPM only by listening to Ragam.
Sama Veda is about using Sound Energy in Shudda Swara to take control of the MOVEMENTS of life.

Tyagaraja's composition.
A telugu song from a Malayalam Movie.

Analogously, a melody is a flow of sound, up and down, with various rhythmic distributions.
The notes (swara) are the soul elements of any Ragam.
Druta Layam is used extensively in the below song.
The Ragam here is called HINDOLAM RAGAM.
Hindolam Ragam is a contribution of Tyagaraja.

Ragam, Talam and Layam can provide you with Intuitive Experience and there is no ego-centric consciousness here. That is spirituality in music.
You have to become  - ego-less, humble, surrendering, in a state of perfect self.

Sama Veda claims that in Life - Every unit of energy that you release should be aligned to HEART BEAT.
Entire universe is made up of Nada Brahman, heart beats.

Layam is about Manifesting Movement of life the way you want.

Lets explore MADHYAMAVATI RAGAM.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madhyamavati

The first Keerthanam that i learnt when i was 8 year old was composed of  Madhyamavati Ragam.
I had to learn to sing this Keerthanam before my Pilgrimage to Sabarimala.
This Keerthanam is played inside Sabarimala temple everyday.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harivarasanam
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabarimala
This Keerthanam is much loved by Lord Ayappa. This Keerthanam has only one Sentiment - DEVOTION.
The development of Ragam comes from VEDAS - Hence only a spiritual being with SENTIMENT AND EMOTIONS can experience the bliss.
This Keerthanam is more than enough to experience SPIRITUALITY.

When you become detached from EMOTIONS - you become self centered and egoistical.
Even after accumulating 200 resources and 10 licences and after sitting on the hot seat and after stealing Ideas of Bengali and then Malayali , can i ask you how many of those STOLEN IDEAS were you able to convert to REALITY?
Artificial Power will never RISE YOU.

LAYAM represents the INTERVAL BETWEEN HEART BEATS.
LIFE IS AVAILABLE ONLY IN THE PRESENT MOMENT.
We can divide this TIME through LAYAM  , we can make the TIME OF THIS MOMENT - TO MOVE FAST , SLOW OR MEDIUM according to OUR CHOICE.

It is akin to the spiritual experience as one transcends the limitations of one’s limited self because of the process of universalization taking place in the work of ART.
The movement of our life is controlled by PULSE – HEART RATE = LAYAM.
We can only control the present moment.

Have you heard of the below STATEMENT - IT IS VERY MUCH TRUE.
Yes you are the pilot of each and every moment of your life.

Nobody has more than 24 hours each day. From the most powerful to the weakest—no one has more time than anyone else. It’s the great equalizer of the human race.
WHEN GOD GIVES , HE GIVES EQUALLY.

LOCK DOWN ENDS IN KARNATAKA.
LOCKDOWN SELFIE!

I simply love each and every one of you reading my post!
