The sound of heart beat!

Today we will explore Ragam / Raaga and its relationship with Talam / Taal.

Ragam is the structure or arrangement of Musical Notes. Below are some of the frameworks of musical notes.
Sa Ri Ga
Ga Ri Sa
Ta Ki Ta
Ta Ka Di Mi
Etc..

As seen above Raga is a “living” form ,  the notes – swaras are arranged in ascending or descending order. According to Sama Veda  - Ragam constitutes of inner pulse having movements and co-ordination explaining the features of life.

Layam means movement.
Layam represents the Pulse , meaning Layam represents the Heart Rate.
Heart Rate = Pulse.
Heart Rate can be measured by listening to the Heart Beat.

If Layam is Pulse , Ragam can be measured by Talam.
Talam forms the complete cycle = HEART BEAT.
Talam is the language that is understood by the Singer , Dancer and the Musician.

Ta Ka Dhi Mi Ta Ka Ta Ki Ta has  9 swaras and it can be sung slowly utilizing 9 heart beats or in three  heart beats you can sing all 9 notes fast.

Talam  sets the rythm or the tempo of the music.
Tala means cyclic rhythms of heart beats.

It is derived from ‘ta’ (referring to siva’s Tandava aspect) and ‘la’ (referring to Shakti's lasya).

Ragam (Ex. Sa Ri Ga) can be sung in 3 speeds.
Speed is called Layam.
1.Vilambita - Slow
2.Madhya - Medium
3.Dhurita - Quick

Ragam , Talam and Layam can provide you with Intuitive Experience and there is no ego-centric consciousness here.
You have to become  -  ego-less, humble, surrendering, in a state of perfect self.
That is spirituality in music

Aesthetics and spirituality make up the very woof and warp of the Indian arts.
According to Sama Veda in Natya Veda.
When you sing a musical  framework - notes ex. Ta Ki Ta
The sound vibration (Energy) that goes out of your throat should be equal to 3 Heart Beats (Inner Energy)
and when you sing Ta Ka Di Mi ,
The sound vibration (Energy) that goes out of your throat should be equal to 4 Heart Beats (Inner Energy) and so on ,
Mathematically Energy that is going out of your body (Sound) should be equal to Inner Energy (Heart Beat).

Finding the perfect match is the MIRACLE
Once you find the perfect match , the difference between the energy inside your heart (Pulse) and  the energy that is going out of your throat  in the form of Sound  Vibration is ZERO.
This point is called as Nada Brahman = EMPTINESS = 0 = Zero Difference between energy inside your body and energy that goes out of your body.

Sound energy in this case  is created by Vayu (Air) + Agni (heat generated by blood circulation).
Now every unit of sound energy – vibration that goes out of your body is aligned to GOD , because God is sitting inside your heart.
This is called as Swara Sadhana in Sama Veda.

Sama Veda claims that in Life - Every unit of energy that you release should be aligned to HEART BEAT.
Entire universe is made up of Nada Brahman , heart beats.
God is the center of every existence.

One has to be EMPTY to be able to experience Nada Brahman.
Tat Tvam Asi = Iam Inside you , God is inside us.
In the exploration of Ragam and Talam you will feel God's own breath.

Question :
How many of you say NO when your heart is actually saying YES?
How many of you say YES when your heart is actually saying NO?
This Energy difference is the result of EGO , LUST ,FEAR , DESIRE FOR MATERIAL.

There are some musical notes (ex. GaRiSa,PaDaNi,MaPaDa,NiSaNi,SaRiGa etc) which only by listening can help you align your released energy with heart beat.
These notes can train your body to align the energy  you release with heart beat.
Here is one such famous song. Many Artists have claimed this song to be spiritual.

Its borrowed from Carnatic Music or Karnataka Sangitam.
The type of musical notes combinations that you find in this song is suitable for worship .
Such an experience is compared to self realization.

The foremost of all Vedas is Sama Veda.
All the musical instruments of the world is created after listening to the sound of Heart Beat.
Heart Beat is a Divine Sound,
How great is the sweetness and charm of this DIVINE SOUND called Nada Brahman.

Who is this Nada Brahman ?
It is claimed in Sama Veda that all the energy that is going out of our body should align with HEART BEAT (Inner Energy).
The musical notes represents every action we perform in our daily life which should align with Heart Beat.
Lord Shankara the embodiment of Music is called as Nada Brahman.

For the younger generations here is a Western Carnatic Mix.
