Arudra Darshanam!

Today we will explore "Arudra Darshanam"

Arudra Darshanam is a festival that is celeberated in Kerala and Tamilnadu.
The festival  is called as - Thiruvathira.
Thiruvathira usually falls in December – January.
Thiruvathira is celebrated  on the  full moon day of December month.
It is on this day Lord Shiva killed Kamadeva and on the same day he  united with Goddess Shakti to create the Universe.
This month is called as Dhanur in Malayalam and Marghazhi  in Tamil.

Thiruvathira is a festival that is dedicated to Lord Nataraja.
On this day , you will get the Darshanam of Lord Shiva  as a highest concept of Art in the form of Supreme Dancer – "Lord Nataraja" performing Yogic Dance.
This Darshanam is called as "Arudra Darshanam"
If you visit Lord Nataraja temple on this day , you will get a glimpse of Divine Cosmic Dance "Arudra Darshanam"

Here is a Glimpse of Arudra Darshanam.

Lord Nataraja dances on the cremation ground , where your name is burnt away!
You have to burn your name to provide Arudra darshanam.
Tat Tvam Asi - You are not you , you are the soul.

The 10 days cosmic dance festival can be best witnessed in Lord Nataraja Temple located in - Chidambaram (Tamil Nadu).
There is a Lord Nataraja - "temple car festival" organised for 10 days in the temple town.
Chidambaram is known as the Town of Lord Nataraja.
It is in this town is my university from where iam learning - Bharatanatyam.
I would be visiting the university in Jan 2020 for personal contact program and then i would be visiting the town again for my exams in May 2020.
We will explore Lord Nataraja temple in detail then.

Meanwhile here is the link for more information.

The temple has 1000 pillars and it has the stone sculpture representations of all 108 karanas (dance poses of Lord Shiva) which is explained in Natya Shastra .The temple complex is spread over 40 acres of Land.
You can witness the annual Brahmotsvam if you visit the temple in Marghazhi month.

So lets explore "Arudra Darshanam"

Arudra Darshanam is the Darshanam of Lord Shiva performing 5 functions - Pancha Kritya.
1. Shrishti - CREATION , one of the two right hands hold a drum signifying sound (heart beat) representing the rhythmic nature of life.
2.Tirobhava - Remove Fear. One right hand is in Abhaya hasta representing PROTECTION - if you follow your heart , you will always be protected . There is no need to FEAR.
3.Samhaara : One left hand holds a ball of fire signifying Samhaara - DESTRUCTION OF IGNORANCE.
Ever glowing and flaming Cosmic Circle is Illusion – Maya – Material - DISSOLUTION OF MAYA
Lord Nataraja is seen dancing through the material called Maya.
It demonstrates that we should never be caught in the circle of Material called Maya , we should dance through Maya.
4.Other left hand points to raised foot which represents RELEASE from Bondage - Material.
5.The right foot on a dwarf represents crushing ignorance.
The raised foot represents release from Material Bondage.

The first chapter of Abhinaya Darpanam is about offering prayer to Lord Nataraja , to bring in the quality of Sattvikam inside your Mind , Body and Soul.

As you see below Lord Nataraja is the embodiment of  emotional expression.
What this means is that :
We are all actors on the stage of life , but our acting should be Sattvika Abhinaya.

How to bring Sattvikam inside your Mind , Body and Soul?
Lets take an example:
Take a particular emotion - example : LOVE.
Start dancing that emotion (you become an actor on life stage) , your movements are lead by your HEART'S IMAGINATION – you become a CREATOR.
You create a State of Mind that is filled with love – BHAVA
You remove FEAR - TIROBHAVA
You create expression – RASA
Allow your heart to guide your movements – Feel the PROTECTION from your HEART.
Dance your emotion without any EXPECTATION  - DISSOLUTION OF MAYA,
Dance your emotion without any  JUDGEMENT - veiling the truth -  RELEASE FROM THE BONDAGE OF MATERIAL .
You know who to fall in love with -  DESTRUCTION OF IGNORANCE.

Now you have acquired the quality of  - Sattvikam Shivam because you are executing all the 5 functions - Pancha Kritya under the guidance of HEART.

You can create any emotion , but when you follow your heart - your expression of that emotion becomes - "Sattvikam Shivam"

Play with energy!

A year ago i was not aware of what ENERGY was?
That one question that i asked my heart taught me what ENERGY was.

I request you all to visit Lord Chidambaram Nataraja temple located in Tamilnadu to get a glimpse of the divine cosmic dance of Lord Nataraja.

Dhanur or Marghazhi is the Divine month , this is because it is in this month Lord Nataraja Killed Kamadeva and united with Goddess Shakti to create the Universe.
The divine cosmic dance is the representation of the same.
