Lepakshi !

Marvel of the Vijayanagara Architecture .
Vijayanagara architecture has a special place inside my heart resulting in multiple trips to Lepakshi.
This trip was made in 2019 ; recently i have not been travelling anywhere due to the pandemic.

Lepakshi is a small village in Andhra Pradesh about 120 kms from Bangalore.
Krishnadevaraya who once ruled Karnataka , also established Vijayanagar architecture in and around Karnataka including Lepakshi (Karnataka - Andhra Pradesh Border)

I will not talk about the story again ,one can read the story here from my Blog Post from 2017 Jan diary
https://coolvidya-pillai.blogspot.in/2017/01/the-story-of-lord-shiva-and-parvathis.html

The courtyard,

I love stone sculptures and can sit for hours admiring them.

The marriage hall known as Kalyan Mantapa.
Pillars still erect as in their glory days - 15th century.

Pier where Siva and Parvathy marriage is carved.

Staring at the sculptures waiting for the story to be told.

The vibrant Vijayanagar architecture.

A feast to the eyes

The Dance Hall, Natya Mantapa ;

The Hanging Pillar ;

A 7 headed Snake known as "Naga" and Vishnu is "Nagaraja".
Pre-dominantly the 2 Gods worshiped by the Keralites.

You just cant get more perfect beauty, carved out of a single monolithic rock.
