2640.3 feet high , my second visit to Shiva Gange Mountain!

The sacred mountain Shiva Gange  is located at 54 km from  Bengaluru city limits, also known as Kashi of South India .

The Mountain has many temples including Gangadeshwara Temple inside the Mountain Cave, a historical Nandi Statue at the top of the mountain carved out of Single rock ,and many more temples of Lord Shiva on the way up the hill.

The distance to be covered to reach the top of the hill from base is about 4.5 km and then 4.5 km back to base. So you trek  9 kms .

The first temple i encountered was Gangadeshwara temple at the base of the Hill
Gangadeshwara temple is a Miracle temple , the Ghee offering made to Lord Shiva turns into butter during the Pooja , and visitors can see this change live, later butter is served to the devotees which is supposed to have medicinal properties that can cure all your diseases

The Hoysala architecture inside the Gangadeshwara Temple

The uneven zig zag steps has Hoysala architecture !
Is'tn it amazing , where else in India you can find steps that are full of Architecture
Karnataka is amazing , Hoysala history steeps in every foot step !

I really dint want to keep my foot on the steps , but then i cannot fly.

Next , i met Lord Shiva and Parvathy on the way up! Said a Hi to both of them!

Popular for trekking and rock climbing
My knees are pretty shattered!

The source of water on the hill is believed to be sacred

There are steel bars to navigate the rocks

An excellent trek !
When you trek in order to make sure that you maximize the Vitamin D intake , you should wear shorts lol..

A good toll on my energy
Jumping onto Boulders was fun!
In life one may have to cross many such Boulders . Attitude is what makes a difference

Every step exhaust you

Monkeys , said a hello to our Ancestors

Do i look like a Chinese or Japanese ?
X Plus Y..

A hello to our animal friend!

Relax..

Nandi carved out of Single rock

The Shantala Drop Suicide Point .
The place was under the administration of Hoysala Kings . Queen Shantala wife of Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana committed suicide in the hill.

Queen Shantala practiced dance here on these  rocks , she was good in dance and music but she was depressed because  she was unable to give birth to a son who could rule Hoysala dynasty in the area ,she jumped from the point and died and the locals believe that the sound of her anklets is heard even today in the night, suppose to be haunted point.

Breathtaking view from Top

There is a steel bar indicating that the visitors are not allowed to enter the suicide point ..
You know what i did ?
I entered the suicide point crossing the steel bar.

And all of sudden i started feeling cold and i was shivering as if i was about the fall down the rock!
It was strange , Queen Shantala tried to attack my soul, you may not believe it , but it is true
Yes at this point , Queen Shantala herself ventured into my body for a few minutes

Haunted Point,i realised that the locals were true !

But i was still "Me" , i immediately crossed the steel bar and came back to safe point!
It was too windy !

May be i can meet Queen Shantala tonight in my dreams !
But at that point , there was a smile on my face , i was able to protect myself from Queen's attack.

Sad part of the story!
Broken History.
