Today iam going to show you all the Clay Mud Artifacts , lets explore the "Pottery Town" located in Frazer Town right in the middle of Bangalore city " the Silicon Valley of South East Asia !"
You will not believe the Talent that Bangaloreans have inside the city .
History : The British got these potters from Tamil Nadu to Bangalore and set up a Potter Town here in Bangalore
Pottery dates back to Indus Valley Civilization and belongs to Harappan and Mohanjodaro !
Harappan Artifacts are the evidence of Pottery culture In India and South East Asia
The art which is born in the narrowest and dirty lanes of India !
Eastern civilization gave so much importance to clay and mud and ceramics
Think of Meiji potter of Japan
Go to Japan and attend a Matcha Tea Ceremony
Go to China to see the Ming Vases
Perhaps India invented steel and Bronze while rest of Asia focused on clay and mud lol..
Nevertheless ,we dont want this art to find ways in history books just like Vijayanagara Architecture or Hoysala Architecture

I walked into a few houses and saw people at work.

Molding , drying and then painting it takes 6 months to make an elephant God Idol (Popularly known as Ganesha in India)
Sweat and Hardwork !
The Potter's Imagination turns clay , mud and dust into the shape of God !

You know that even he celebrates the festival.
He is not in the process of making his wish list , he is the process of turning his Imagination into God so that your prayers reach God and your celebration sparkle

Outside his Home,
The clay cups , clay pots and diyas and idols lie outside their house or on the top of their house, sidewalk waiting to be sold out!
Another Potter , and i could hear a Tamil Song !

I sat there until the song got over.
You will hear Tamil Song in every house
These potters own their homes in the heart of the city!
They make pots inside their homes and sell them right outside their homes

6 more days for the festival and he wants to earn so much that he could buy some Gifts for his family and Kids!
Totally Kissable Kids ,these potters have!
The families jointly own a giant Kiln for firing the clay artifact ,
Idol waiting to be sold out!
Who is helping us offer our prayers to God during every Festival we celebrate!
Me originally as a keralite dont celebrate this festival significantly or Keralites dont get Idols home
But i want to send a message across to all of you there .
Lets not bargain while buying an Idol and give the Potter a little extra so that he could also celebrate the festival
Remember that he is helping you pray and reach out to God to fulfill your wishes
We pay so much to an astrologer and to a priest , we believe that the priest and astrologer will help us make our wishes reach God!
This potter is no less than an astrologer or a priest!
He help you brighten your homes with lights with the lamps ,
He can turn his imagination into God and offer you God himself so that you could offer prayers to God to fulfill your dreams
Why negotiate with these poor potters??
Let all your wishes about marriage ,education and promotion, money , home come true !!
