The Lost City Hampi A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE (Part 3)

A standing proof that dreams can also be made of Stones!

The world famous stone chariot at Vijaya Vittala Temple in Hampi

The chariot holding on to her eternal majesty in the barren land of sacred stones- survived all the battles and Stood tall for centuries and the sultans who looted all the wealth from Vijayanagara could not do anything to its  architectural heights !

The silence of this chariot speaks a thousand words…

"ಯುಗ ಯುಗಗಳು ನಿನ್ನ ಕಾಯುವೆ "
“Yuga yugagalu ninna kayuve..”
Meaning “I will continue to guard you for centuries”

The silence of the stone chariot is overpowering like the stillness of water.

It is believed that king Krishnadevaraya built this, after he was impressed with the stone chariot at Konark temple in Orissa, so my next plan is to head to Orissa

A salute to the brave Sri Krishnadevaraya who built this temple and stone chariot, where dreams are made of stones and rocks , a proof that wealth will come and go , but it is mankind and humanity that will continue to exists even after death.

Vijaya Vittala temple Complex

The construction of this temple was started in 1513 AD by King Krishnadevaraya who ruled Vijayanagara from 1509 to  1529

This temple is dedicated to Vittala, Krishna avatar of Vishnu
But there is no deity in the temple

Photographers need to head to the temple early by 7 am
Else the temple will become too crowded for any photographs

The Mystery behind the invention of human civilization

Breath taking beauty , the vision i see break my heart.

If you have heard of the combination of art and science then you can also witness this combination at VijayaVittla temple in the city of Hampi
It is said that the great Purandaradasa , who lived in Hampi had constructed a 100 stone pillared musical hall inside the temple under the  rule of Sri Krishnadevaraya and there are 100 musical stone pillars inside the hall

Yes even the Rome and Athens were not a comparison to Hampi in its days , but we don’t talk about how  the religious hatredness  by the sultans destroyed the city by  treachery and betrayal of trust

Musical stone pillars

You can still hear this music when you tap the pillar

My incredible and Humbled Hampi Experience
Visitors are not allowed to tap the pillar anymore .

Visitors are not allowed to enter the Musical Pillared hall

Pillars are sculptured with musicians and dancers

A grand architecture that World has never produced any time in the past and nor will ever produce in future
Singing the architectural glory of Vijayanagara kingdom , the 56  Musical pillars ,
When you tap them , Sa , Ri , Ga , Ma , Pa , Da , Ni can be heard

Two of the musical pillars were cut by the British , as they were curious to see what is there inside the musical stone pillar , they found nothing lol..

The temples all carved out of massive granite, stone and rocks

There are many such granite musical stones that lay abandoned in Hampi  that produce music when you tap them , when you tap them tears roll out of your eyes .

The  last time i felt the pain was when i visited the world heritage site “Hiroshima”  but still i did not cry then , but when i saw Hampi , tears rolled out of my eyes ,
yes ,i could listen to the music that was produced by the stone.

The destruction of Vijayanagara Hindu kingdom was the worst in the history that resulted in the  sad end of the last Hindu empire and the hateful people who so massacred, their symbols stand still in the form of Gol-Gumbaz and Charminar
Indian History  try to match Hampi with Rome and Greece.
Hampi just cant be compared not even with TajMahal.

Every rock and every temple is talking about the savage massacre..
But The destruction of Hindu temples at Hampi only gets a passing mention in the books of History

every boulder,
every pillar,
every path,
every road,

every stone is telling the story, the story of greed and religious hatred that existed between  the Hindus and the Muslims

My Most memorable moment of Hampi was the notice of the absence of deity inside the temples for who it was all built .
The silence and darkness inside the temple ...anyone returning from Hampi will have tears in her/his eyes
Hampi will engulf you in an aura even in its ruins

Tears will roll out of your eyes when you realize  that someone died for dharma
some one was slaughtered
and that someone could be our great grand father .

Immortality is when a man dies but his  (Sri Krishnadevaraya) sense of protection continues ...
It shows how protected by Vijayanagara , Hindu culture survived in the south and is still surviving even today guarded by Sri Krishnadevaraya.

Amidst the ruins , one can breath the Indian Hindu Culture even today .
Now the Question is what did the sultans achieve of all this? what will they do to Hampi ...

Thank you Hampi for providing me these beautiful moments in my life , i will visit Hampi again to discover more.

The message for us here is let not the greed rule us , let us not fight for religion and language
Mankind and humanity is above wealth and there is only one ruler some call him by name Krishna , some Allah and some Jesus .
