Today iam going to write about a celebrated fabric Kanchipuram fabric from Tamilnadu , the pride of India.
Many of us out there know that the silk weavers of Kanchipuram based in Tamilnadu make the best sarees in India.
The story goes like this ....
According to Hindu Mythology Lord Shiva loved cotton , and Lord Vishnu loved silk.
There was a sage name Markanda in Tamilnadu and he used to weave clothes for Gods.
Sage Markanda 's expertise was passed onto the descendants in Tamilnadu now known as Kanchi Weavers.
Today Kanchipuram also makes fancy sarees according the likes of the new generation
The silk mix in the saree can range anywhere from 5% to 95% and price of the saree will depend on the mix
The general composition of silk mix is only 22% for a normal saree.
Silk - 22% , Silver -50% , Gold - 0.6% , Others - 29%
Here is one of 2 soft silk mix fancy kanchipuram sarees that i have
This saree cost is only 4000 rupees as it has others composition high and small proportion of soft silk making at the zari and border making it very much a fancy saree.
These sarees are considered rare for their colour combinations.
Colour combinations are the specialty of Kanchi Sarees be it fancy , soft silk or pure silk
The vibrance of these sarees are brilliant.
Next i want to try a pure silk kanchipuram saree.
Proud to own a kanchipuram fancy saree
Purchased from Aishwarya silks one of the distributors of Kanchi silks in RT Nagar Bangalore
The invention of kanchipuram : Sarees have 3 parts - Pallu , Border and Zari .
The pallu and saree are always in contrast with each other ...
Kanchipuram will continue to be a cultural wealth of India for many generations to come
Wearing my Kanchi saree , i went to seek blessing from Lord Ganesh.
Panchamuki Ganapathy Temple on Mysore Road about 30 kms from Bangalore city
Ganesha is shown having 5 faces , and he is seen from outside protecting all those who pray him
My Mom in Mysore Silk..
3km way from this temple is Big Banyan Tree
In Kannada it is known as "Dodda Alada Mara" , located on kethohalli
A tree that is 400 years old
The Sun..
Spread over 3 acres , nice place to beat the heat
Its damn cool to sit under the 3 acre park and also there is a small Lord Shiva Temple in the enclosure
Sky Scrapper
Aerial roots in thousands
Where there is Good there is also Bad , and where there is God there is also Ghost
It is believed that once a Ghost stood right next to the tourist posing for a pic and the photographer died later, since i dont have any pics with the Ghost i could not add them to my Blog post today
Nevertheless , this is the only Ghostly photo dedicated to my readers which i have ....
A cool and shady place
My Kanchi Saree
End of today's post , have a happy day ahead!
