Belur and Halebid or Halebidu is a world Heritage site
No definitely iam not on a world heritage tour , the last world heritage
center that I saw was Hiroshima back in 2014- December , and this one is almost after 2 full years and what I can say is Belur
–Halebidu is the supreme climax of Indian Architecture , not even TajMahal can
beat this one and it is a must for everyone who love history to visit the place
.
Both Belur and Halebid was constructed by Hoysala dynasty . Wait
its called as Hoy-Sala
Hoy means "strike" and "Sala " was one of the Boys of the dynasty ,
Sala single handedly strikes the tiger meaning while he was combating the tiger
single handedly he killed the Tiger .
This act of bravery became the emblem of dynasty .Yes this is the emblem
of Hoysala Dynasty who ruled Karnataka between 11th and 13th century,
Now the girl who single handedly combats the Tiger ..can you see this..
Hoysalas in addition were very strong in Art and Architecture, Belur
and Halebidu is definitely the masterpiece of Hoysalas
The construction of the temple commenced in 1116 A.D. at the
instance of King Vishnuvardahana, his son and later on his grandson actually
completed the construction of the temple. As per historical records, it took around 103
years to complete this beautifully sculpted temple complex.
Belur : The Chennakesava temple
The chennakesava meaning Handsome Vishnu resides inside the temple which has star shaped platform . Hoysalas constructed temple in a star shape
The Pillar of Gravity .
This pillar made from a single stone stands on its own
gravity
TajMahal is two dimensional, but all the temples which were built
by Hoysalas were 3D - Three dimensional. Hindu Mythology in 3D. All the sculptures in Belur and Halebidu are three
dimensional , meaning that all sculptures , from the smallest one to the
biggest one are as perfect in the back side as they are in the front. They all
look alike from all 3 Dimensions .

Now this explains that Indians have been very strong in Mathematics right from the origin of Hindu Mythology,
As seen on the photographs at the base you could see there are 644
elephants. Elephants symbolize stability
These beautiful 1000 year
old apsaras are the finest that I have ever seen anywhere in the southern part
of India .They are so polished and could serve as a mirror (if required) lol..
One of the many ancient writings in Sanskrit
Depictions of mythological events
The remains of Belur Temple
Someone was seen fallen inside the well and i was trying to saving him .
Its a Hoysala style well..
Its a Hoysala style well..
The exquisite craftsmanship of Hoysalas still exists in the city of Belur..
Now lets explore Halebidu:
There are 2 Figurine at the entrance of all the 3 dimensions, it’s
hard to believe that you are in 21st century at this place
A combination of 11th and 21st century!
Brahma-Mohini dance pose atop of the Mantap inside the sanctum and
also seen outside
Brahma-Mohini dance also seen outside.
I was mesmerized by the most exquisite sculptures and statues of
elephants, horses, lions, swans, , and scenes from the Indian epics
Queen Shantala wife of Vishnuvardahana who built the temple herself was a dancer and a genius in
Mathematics who also helped Vishnuvardahana in completing this temple architecture.
A millennial old architecture and it makes us feel magical about
the skill that Hoysalas possessed
The sun may have set in the dynasty a 1000 years ago , but has
left a glory behind the temple…
The sunlight through the Hoysala ventilation inside the temple sanctum
3D Temple premise
A hindu Mythical creature , nobody knows what this animal was ,
